The quality of the canvas composition and grammage are also important elements to check. The PU allows a compromise in sealing and resistance to the sun (cooking).
The destination of a garden arbor being mainly a shading role, the paintings are mostly designed for this purpose.
If you want a rain-resistant canvas, you will have to orient yourself if it exists towards a PVC-coated canvas that will guarantee a waterproof function. In this case the grammage is often close to 400 grs / m2.
There is also polyester coated PU 270 grs which guarantees a good compromise in terms of sun and weather resistance (example on the range exotic wood arbor we manufacture).
The canvases must be dismantled in the winter to maximize the life of your garden arbor.
The other solution is to invest in a retractable canvas garden arbor. This will allow you to play with the shading but also to put the arbor safely quickly during gale or violent thunderstorm.
