There are several categories of degreasers. You must therefore be careful to read on which chemical base and which formulation your kitchen degreaser is constructed. Indeed, certain surfaces will not support this or that type of degreaser and in the same vein, certain degreasers will require suitable personal protection (mask, glove or even suit). Alkaline degreasers : Ideal for baked-on and sticky grease, they are often used on cooking surfaces. These are the most commonly found in the kitchen world. They are characterized by a high pH and must often be used diluted. Chlorinated degreasers : Effective for disinfecting, but their use must be limited due to their corrosive potential. Using a disinfectant degreaser may be necessary in some contexts, but it depends on the specific needs of your kitchen. Let's compare the two options between using a degreaser and a disinfectant degreaser. Benefits of a Disinfectant Degreaser Increased efficiency in the context of lightly soiled surfaces and where time savings are important. In addition to removing grease, these products disinfect surfaces, further reducing the risk of contamination. Of course, using a single product for two functions can simplify the cleaning process, but we must not lose sight of the fact that a disinfectant degreaser will never be as effective as a product specifically dedicated to the degreasing function... When to opt for a degreaser alone? If the surfaces are particularly dirty, separating the two phases will ultimately allow for better efficiency in restoring a clean surface before disinfection. Disinfectant degreasers can be more expensive. For everyday use, a regular degreaser may be more economical.
As a general rule, the law imposes a DLUO (Best Before Date) of two years for all cleaning products. Kitchen degreasers are no exception. However, it is important to note that we are not talking about a DLC but rather an Optimal Use-By Date. This therefore means that the manufacturer no longer guarantees the effectiveness of the product beyond this date.
