How to descale my professional dishwasher

Why descale your dishwasher?

A dishwasher is very often supplied with softened water via an upstream softener or a general softener. As a result, the amount of limescale contained in the water is lower but not zero. In fact, the residual TH is often between 7 and 12°C, whereas it can be above 30°C before being softened.

As a result, limescale remains which will then settle under the effect of temperature on the walls , injectors, etc. of the machine but also on the dishes.

It is therefore necessary to descale the equipment regularly in order to preserve it and maintain the quality of operation of the dishwasher.

My dishes are dull and white

Very often users complain about a deteriorating wash quality but it is simply the maintenance of the machine that is not carried out correctly.

The dishes will also become dull with repeated washing in the machine and the glasses in particular will become more opaque.

It is therefore also necessary to regularly descale the dishes by soaking them in a sink or by putting the baskets of dishes directly in the dishwasher where descaler has previously been poured into the wash basin.

The descaling protocol for machines and dishes

If the dishwasher is equipped with a detergent dispenser, it is obviously necessary to turn off this dispenser when filling the dishwasher to avoid mixing the detergent (alkaline) with the descaling product (acid). This would have a contradictory effect.

Once the dispenser is off (the indicator light must be off) , you can fill the dishwasher with water. Then manually add the liquid or powder descaler , respecting the indicated dosages.

Then run your machine for a few cycles so that all of the solution circulates through the arms and parts of the machine.

You can take the opportunity to use baskets of glassware or other kitchen utensils that are not sensitive to acid (do not use aluminum) to descale them as well.

Then proceed to drain your machine.

Turn the wall-mounted dispenser back on . Restart filling the machine. You can then rinse the previously descaled dish baskets thoroughly.
