Users of disinfectant wipes

The disinfectant wipe can be used in hospitals, medical practices, dental practices, care and sampling centers, analysis laboratories, emergency services, SAMU, firefighters, etc.
Disinfection is carried out with personal protective equipment such as a disposable suit , a single-use gown and disposable gloves in order to ensure perfect hygiene.
The wipes can be used to disinfect surfaces such as work surfaces, most personal utensils (thermometer, nail clippers, razors, scissors, etc.), public and professional objects (telephones, door handles, toilet seats, sanitary facilities, etc.) and class I medical devices (stethoscopes, wheelchairs, dentist chairs, medical beds, examination tables, etc.)
The wipes can be used when traveling, in the car, on a plane, at the office, at home, etc.
The use of wipes does not exempt you from the cleaning protocol, which is required prior to any disinfection.
The use of wipes does not exempt you from the sterilization protocol for instruments that can be sterilized using an appropriate process.

Disinfectant wipes and food contact

Some wipes comply with the Order of 8 September 1999 (and subsequent texts), concerning cleaning products for materials and objects intended to come into contact with foodstuffs.
In this case, for surfaces in subsequent contact with food, it is necessary to carry out a preliminary rinse with drinking water.
Wipes are also authorized for hand decontamination in food environments.

The EN14476 standard and its evolution

Previous versions of EN 14476 (2007, 2013 and 2015) did not distinguish between non-enveloped (naked) and enveloped viruses for surface and hand treatment.
Since non-enveloped viruses are more resistant, the reasoning was that if non-enveloped viruses are destroyed then enveloped viruses are too.
History of amendments to the EN 14476 standard:
EN 14476+A1 (2007): Poliovirus and Adenovirus test; Parvovirus for chemothermal disinfection.
EN 14476 (2013): addition of Norovirus as a reference strain, addition of limited spectrum virucidal activity on Adenovirus and Norovirus only for hand treatment, possibility of testing a ready-to-use product at 97% instead of 80% previously.
EN 14476+A1 (2015): addition of activity on enveloped virus with test on Vaccinia virus only for hand disinfection.
EN 14476+A2 (2019): Virucidal activity on enveloped viruses (hands and surfaces) = test on Vaccinia virus
Limited spectrum virucidal activity (on enveloped viruses + non-enveloped viruses Adenovirus, Rotavirus and Norovirus) = test on Adenovirus and Norovirus
Virucidal activity (enveloped and non-enveloped viruses) = test on Poliovirus, Adenovirus and Norovirus
It is mentioned in the standards protocols that tests carried out on previous versions of the standards remain valid and do not need to be resubmitted for testing.
