How long does bleach last?
Bleach should always be stored in non-metallic, opaque containers. Bleach should be stored away from heat.
Dilution should be done with cold water.
At a maximum temperature of 20°, the bleach concentrate can be stored for 3 months and the bleach water for 1 year. For the tablets, the shelf life is 2 years.
How to use bleach?
2.6% active chlorine bleach is ready to use.
9.6% active chlorine bleach concentrate must be diluted before use. 250 ml of 9.6% active chlorine bleach concentrate must be diluted with 750 ml of water.
For the tablets, dilute 1 to 2 tablets in 10 liters of water.
Why use bleach?
To disinfect floors, walls, toilets, mix 100 to 300 ml of bleach for 10 liters of water, rinse after 10 minutes.
To disinfect vegetables: 30 ml for 50 liters of water, then rinse with clean water.
To disinfect or bleach laundry (except wool and silk): 100 to 300 ml for 10 liters of water. Be careful not to pour the bleach directly onto the laundry.
In what form can bleach be obtained?
Bleach is marketed in two forms:
Concentrated (or extract) at 36° chlorometric (abbreviation chl) packaged in 250 ml bottles and cartons or 5 and 20 litre jerrycans.
Ready to use, at 9 chlorometric degrees (1 and 2 litre bottles or 5 litre jerrycan).
This is obtained in the proportion of 1/4 bleach extract + 3/4 water.
Does bleach smell like chlorine?
Bleach doesn't smell like chlorine. It smells like bleach! Chlorine gas is only released when bleach is mistakenly mixed with an acid.
Why does tap water smell like bleach?
Water needs to be treated to make it drinkable. Sometimes this water has a strong taste because the water treatment required a larger amount of bleach. To remove this taste, simply put the water in the refrigerator or add a few drops of lemon juice.
