Given the development of microfiber in recent years, it is important to have a technical approach to microfiber to really compare like with like and, above all, choose the right microfiber in order to obtain a result that meets the needs on the ground. Microfiber is characterized by: its diameter, the nature of its fiber, the structure of its fiber. The fineness of the microfiber filament allows it to pass through all the irregularities of the support. Its tapered ends give it significant force for removing foreign bodies. Mechanical force: This is the force that trees use to feed themselves. Particles (grease, dust, crumbs) are trapped in the dense network formed by the intertwined microfilaments. Electrostatic force: Synthetic microfiber fibers (such as polyester or polyamide) become positively charged when rubbed dry and naturally attract negatively charged organic dust. This property is very useful in dust collection applications.

Microfiber size: Microfiber is a fiber with a count of less than 1 decitex. The decitex is the value in grams of 10,000 m of thread. So a textile is microfiber when 10 km of thread weigh less than 1 gram. So the smaller the diameter of the thread, the more efficient the microfiber. The decitex number of the microfiber is therefore an important parameter on the performance of the microfiber cloth or fringe. To give an idea of the diameters of the fibers it is useful to make a comparison with the different fibers that we know. So a hair has a diameter of 60 microns. 5.5 decitex polyester with a diameter of 33 microns. The wool fiber has a diameter of 20 microns. Cashmere 16 microns, silk 12 microns, polyamide 1.2 decitex 11.4 microns, polyester 1 decitex 9.6 microns, polyester 0.5 decitex 5.5 microns and finally polyester 0.1 decitex 2.4 microns. This means that between a hair and a microfiber of 0.5 decitex there is a ratio of 30 on the thickness. Nature of microfiber: Microfiber is made from synthetic fibers. The most commonly used fibers are polyamide and polyester. It is the distribution of these two components which makes the characteristic of the microfiber used (70/30, 80/20...etc). Each of these fibers has its own characteristics: - Polyester is hydrophobic and therefore does not absorb water but is on the other hand lipophilic and therefore absorbs liquid fats. - Polyamide is hydrophilic and therefore absorbs water and lipophilic. What are the advantages of the microfiber cloth for the user? To fully understand this point, you must have already understood the Sinner circle which summarizes the cleaning action in 4 distinct parameters. Namely: chemical action (water and detergent), temperature, action time and mechanical action (rubbing or brushing action). The microfiber increases the mechanical action and therefore reduces the time spent and also the quantity of detergent (including lower product consumption). The perfect combination is therefore the use of a microfiber and a disinfectant detergent. The mechanical efficiency of microfiber allows the following points to be optimized: - Reduction in the number of passes required to clean a surface => PRODUCTIVITY - Reduction of chemicals and inhalation of VOCs => SAFETY - Weight of the fringes => ERGONOMICS - Reduction of particulate contamination of ambient air => safety - Reduced surface drying time and risk of falling => PRODUCTIVITY and SAFETY Microfiber therefore has several advantages: - Visual cleanliness - Resistance - Disinfection efficiency - Security - Economy - Sustainable development
