Before varnishing a parquet floor, it is recommended to apply a base coat or primer. This primer is 100% polyurethane and can be applied to all types of wood before a water-based finish. The drying time is quick, taking one to two hours. You can then apply a two-component or one-component parquet varnish from the Bona range.
Room temperature between 15 and 25° Before applying the varnish, your parquet floor must be clean and unwaxed or unoiled. If it's an old floor, you'll need to sand it before applying the varnish. Apply the varnish evenly with a brush and/or roller. Follow the direction of the wood grain. Allow to dry for 12 to 24 hours. If necessary, lightly sand, vacuum, then damp mop before applying the second coat. Allow to dry for 12 to 24 hours, then apply a third coat if necessary. Wait 48 to 72 hours before replacing the furniture. You can walk on it carefully after 8 hours of drying. Allow 8 days for the varnish to reach its maximum hardness.
