Preparation
The surface to be treated must be well sanded, dry and clean, free of sanding dust, oil, wax or other grease. Last sanding should be done at 120 (or finer) grain, or even with Normal Bona Scrad Systeme.
The best results will be obtained using a single-disc machine.
Note: Contact your Bona technical advisor for the treatment of certain types of modified wood, eg: diamond pine or stabilized brown beech.
Manual:
On raw wood: You can apply to the choice:
- 2-3 layers of Bona Mega
- 1 layer of Bona Prime (Classic, Tempo or Intense) and 2 coats of Bona Mega
NOTE: For hardwood floors, planed planks and parquet floors installed on a heated floor, it is recommended to use a Bona Prime primer to minimize the risk of side gluing.
Apply the varnish to the roller on a regular basis, avoiding to make significant extra thicknesses or accumulations.
Between each application, lightly sanding with a 120-grit abrasive (the primer can be roughened using Bonasand Scrad).
Parquet previously varnished: Before vitrification, it is recommended to carry out an adhesion test:
- Sand a small surface and apply a layer of Bona Mega
- After 2-3 days, test by rubbing strongly with a coin.
If the varnish does not come off by filming, the adhesion is satisfactory. Prior to application, the surface to be treated should be sanded to 120 or 150 grit or Bonasand Scrad until matt, and then survive by applying 1 or 2 coats of Bona Mega.
NOTE: During product application and drying, the temperature should not drop below 13 ° C. The drying time can vary considerably depending on the ambient temperature, the hygrometry, the amount of varnish applied, the ventilation and the absorption capacity of the wood. After 8 hours of drying, it is possible to walk carefully on the treated floor. It will take a week to wait until the varnish is dry and has reached its maximum hardness. After this time, the carpets and other furniture can be put back in place, and if necessary, the floor can be cleaned with a special neutral detergent parquet
