Bona Mega is a polyurethane varnish recommended for normal and heavy traffic areas. A single-component product that acts like a true two-component, with atmospheric oxygen acting as a hardener, Mega offers excellent resistance to wear and chemicals. Key points:
- Very good resistance to scratches, scuffs and wear
- Very good resistance to chemical attack
- Meets the DIN 18032:2 slip resistance standard (glossy, satin & matte)
- Solvent-free, it does not dissolve oils, thus limiting the risk of polish, oil, wax, etc., seeping through.

Preparation
The surface to be treated must be well sanded, dry and clean, free of sanding dust, oil, wax or other grease. The final sanding should be done with 120 grit (or finer), or even Bona Scrad Systeme.
The best results will be obtained using a single-disc floor machine.
Note: Contact your Bona technical advisor for the treatment of certain modified wood species, e.g. diamond pine or stabilized brown beech.
Instructions for use:
On raw wood:
You can choose to apply:
- 2 to 3 coats of Bona Mega
- 1 coat of Bona Prime (Classic, Tempo or Intense) and 2 coats of Bona Mega
NOTE: For wood parquet flooring on edge, planed boards and parquet flooring laid over heated flooring, it is recommended to use a Bona Prime type primer layer to minimize the risk of lateral gluing.
Apply the varnish with a roller in an even manner, avoiding significant build-up or accumulation.
Between each application, lightly sand with a 120 grit abrasive (the base coat can be sanded using the Bonasand Scrad system).
Pre-varnished parquet flooring:
Before glazing, it is recommended to carry out an adhesion test:
- Sand a small area and apply a coat of Bona Mega
- After 2-3 days, test by rubbing firmly with a coin.
If the varnish does not peel or flake off, the adhesion is satisfactory. Before application, the surface to be treated must be completely sanded with 120 or 150 grit sandpaper or using the Bonasand Scrad system until it is matte, then apply one or two coats of Bona Mega to achieve a superior finish.
NOTE: During application and drying of the product, the temperature must not fall below 13°C. Drying time can vary considerably depending on ambient temperature, humidity, the amount of varnish applied, ventilation, and the absorbency of the wood.
