Preparation
The surface to be treated must be well sanded, dry and clean, free from sanding dust, oil, wax or other greasy material. The last sanding must be done with grain 120 (or finer), or even with Normal and Bona Scrad Systeme.
The best results will be obtained by using a single-coater.
Note: Contact your Bona Technical Advisor for the treatment of some modified wood species, eg diamond pine or stabilized brown beech.
Manual:
On raw wood: You can apply either:
- 2 to 3 layers of Bona Mega
- 1 coat of Bona Prime (Classic, Tempo or Intense) and 2 coats of Bona Mega
NOTE: For wood floors on edges, planks planed and parquet on heated floor, it is recommended to use a base coat of Bona Prime type to minimize the risks of lateral sizing.
Apply the varnish to the roller regularly, avoiding to make important thickenings or accumulations.
Between each application, proceed with a slight sanding with an abrasive grain 120 (the primer can be ground using the Bonrad Scrad system).
Parquet previously varnished: Before glazing, it is advisable to carry out an adhesion test:
- Sand a small surface and apply a layer of Bona Mega
- After 2-3 days, test by rubbing hard with a coin.
If the varnish does not peel off, the adhesion is satisfactory. Before application, the surface to be treated must be sanded completely with 120 or 150 grit or using Bonasand Scrad until matt, then survitrified by applying 1 or 2 coats of Bona Mega.
NOTE: During application and drying of the product, the temperature should not fall below 13 ° C. The drying time can vary considerably depending on the ambient temperature, the hygrometry, the amount of varnish applied, the ventilation and the absorption power of the wood.
