The IP index has two numbers, how do you understand them?

- the first digit represents the degree of protection of the hand dryer against solid bodies (eg IP 2 1)
- the second digit represents the level of protection of the hand dryer against liquid elements (eg IP2 1).
For an installation in volume 2:
-IPX 3 minimum (flexible device). For an installation in volume 3:
-IPX 1 minimum (cord in extension, the hand dryer must not enter the volume 2).

First number: protection against solid bodies

IP0X - no protection
IP1X -protected against solid bodies> to 50 mm (ex.contact of the hand)
IP2X -protected against solid bodies> 12.5 mm (ex.doigt of the hand)
IP3X -protected against solid bodies> 2.5 mm (eg tools, screws)
IP4X -protected against solid bodies> to 1 mm (eg small tools, wires)
IP5X -protected against dust (no harmful deposit)
IP6X - completely dustproof

Second digit: protection against liquid bodies

IPX0 - no protection
IPX1 -protected against vertical drops of water drops
IPX2 -protected against drops of water up to 15 ° from the vertical
IPX3 -protected against drops of water up to 60 ° from the vertical
IPX4 -protected against projections from all directions
IPX5 -protected against jets of water from all directions (water lance)
IPX6 - completely protected against projections (similar to sea packs)
IPX7 -protected against the effects of immersion
IPX8 -protected against the effects of prolonged immersion


This means that an IP24, IP34, IP44 or IP54 hand dryer must be IPx4.
