Hepa filter dry hand

For hygienic hand drying

Equipping and regularly changing the Hepa filter of your electric hand dryer guarantees air hygiene and therefore limits the profiling of viruses and bacteria.

Filters and categories

A HEPA filter's main function is to filter bacteria, thus significantly reducing one of the major drawbacks of electric hand dryers compared to disposable hand towels: hygiene. Therefore, a HEPA filter is an air filter with a filtration capacity of at least 99.97% for particles larger than 0.3 µm² .
There are several classes of Hepa filter: E10, E11, E12, H13, H14, U15, U16, U17.
In the case of pulsed air hand dryers, we are generally at U15 corresponding to 99.9975%.

HEPA filter lifespan

The lifespan of a HEPA filter is related to the number of uses, not to an absolute duration. Thus, the average is between 3 and 4 months, depending on the filter, based on 100 uses per day.
The number of months will of course be extended if the number of daily uses is lower.
Changing the HEPA filter is therefore a condition for maintaining the level of hygiene for users.

Frequently asked questions about the HEPA filter

What type of filter is used on electric hand dryers?

High-pressure air dryers circulate a large amount of air , potentially increasing the spread of bacteria and viruses. This is often the deciding factor when choosing between paper towels and high-pressure air dryers for hand drying. See the comparative study between disposable paper towels and electric hand dryers .
To address and limit this potential source of contamination, forced-air devices are equipped with two types of filters . The most common is a simple air filter that provides primary filtration.
The most effective filtration is provided by a HEPA filter, which can be either optional or standard. Therefore, a decision must be made regarding the desired level of hygiene before choosing this option, which will ultimately reassure users without prohibitive cost.

When should I change the filters on my electric hand dryer?

Whether for air filters or HEPA filters, under normal use , it is recommended to change them every 6 weeks . This interval can then be shortened or lengthened depending on whether the use is very heavy with high traffic (airport, train station, etc.) or light, such as in a small office space. The filter's condition can also be visually inspected for clogging.
Another important point: the warranty may be voided if these filters have not been replaced. Failure to do so will accelerate engine wear.
