The most common material is aluminum , which has the advantage of being rustproof, easily washable and therefore a guarantee of cleanliness in terms of germs, and lightweight in use.
A colored tip on the handle will help identify the areas where a particular handle should be used. We will see later the purpose of this "color coding".
The most affordable versions will just have the colored end handle (Series 5406...), a handle diameter of 25 mm and a length of 140 cm.
The ergonomic aluminium handle will be 32 mm in diameter, 150 cm long and with the entire upper part covered in glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (PPN) which allows both hands to be on a cold insulating material (ALU7054150 series..).
Another material is fiberglass, which allows the handle to be very lightweight and very strong. Fiberglass can withstand long periods of cleaning.
It also has the advantage of being sterilizable in an autoclave to ensure perfect hygiene.
Here too, there are two versions.
The handle, the major part of which is indeed made of fiberglass, and where the grip and the screw tip are "added on" (Series 7050250...).
The other version is the one-piece fiberglass-reinforced PPN handle, which represents the pinnacle of design for ensuring perfect hygiene. Indeed, with no added parts, there is no risk of any crevices or rough spots conducive to bacterial growth (Series 7050250...). It's the "Rolls Royce" of food-grade handles. It also provides insulation against cold on contact.
As you will have perceived, the higher the requirement and the higher the security, the higher the quality of the product chosen will need to be.
As part of an HACCP approach, compartmentalization is used to prevent cross-contamination; therefore, color coding is predominantly used to achieve this. Examples include colored kitchen cloths , hand towels , and microfiber cloths .
Sleeves are generally 140 cm or 150 cm long. Most professional sleeves are 150 cm long to provide sufficient height and a greater reach. The 140 cm length is usually chosen to offer a lower price or to cater to shorter individuals.
