Wet and dry vacuum cleaner: priority water and liquid suction

The choice of a water and dust vacuum cleaner must first and foremost be motivated by a majority use in water suction . Indeed, the transition from water to dust implies on many models the addition of the dust filter which if omitted can lead to a deterioration of the motor.
A wet and dry vacuum cleaner should therefore not be chosen to do 90% of its use in dust suction for example. Voussert has been offering you for over 45 years through the Numatic , Nilfisk and Taski brands professional vacuum cleaners dedicated to the suction of water and liquids.

Nilfisk Attix: Professional wet and dry vacuum cleaners for intensive use

The Attix 30 / Attix 40 / Attix 50 range of industrial vacuum cleaners has many advantages. These vacuum cleaners are easy to transport and use, robust, ergonomic and have a low noise level. The tank capacity is 30 liters. An automatic cut-off safety feature is provided in the event of overheating. An integrated accessory support as standard makes use and handling easier. In addition, Attix vacuum cleaners with the option are equipped with a power outlet to control a portable power tool such as a drill, sander....
Any loss of performance or flow rate is avoided thanks to the new "XtremeClean" system, XC model, fully automated for cleaning the cartridge filter . This filter cleaning can be done manually with the PC option, which means manual filter cleaning in "Push and Clean".
Just like the Attix 30, the Attix 40 or 50 industrial vacuum cleaners have a low noise level and automatically cut off in the event of overheating. An integrated accessory holder as standard for easy handling and use. It is possible to adapt the diameter of the hose according to requirements (27, 32, 36, 38, 50 mm). Tank capacities vary from 30 liters for the Attix 30 and 33 to 37 liters for the Attix 40, 42 liters for the Attix 44 and 47 liters for the Attix 50.
If you are looking for greater autonomy, the Attix 751 / 761 and 791 offer up to 70 liters

Points to validate for a professional water and dust vacuum cleaner

To choose and determine which model of water and dust vacuum cleaner will be the most suitable for your use and especially the one that will correspond to the surfaces, frequency of use, transport, etc., it is good to know certain information:

  • The many accessories available (suction nozzles, water filter brushes, dust brushes, round brush, flat nozzle, etc.). In particular, dust filter or not?
  • The noise level of the vacuum cleaner. Especially if you have to work for long hours in a row.
  • The suction power , the air flow, a very important element in the choice of your equipment, it will determine the overall power of your vacuum cleaner and above all whether or not to suck up what you want and determine the efficiency.
  • How easy is the vacuum cleaner to handle, its weight, a telescopic tube? A carrying handle for easy storage? Are you going to vacuum in difficult places? Is it possible to pull it behind you easily to vacuum up all the dirt? A handy vacuum cleaner is important on a daily basis.

Also taken into account is the choice and size of the vacuum cleaner tank because this will determine the autonomy. Vacuum cleaner tanks can reach 70 liters but in this case think about moving the vacuum cleaner once full and its emptying system... The material of the tank is also an element to take into account stainless steel or plastic and finally the vacuum cleaner motor one stage or several stages, which will define its suction power.

The different types of vacuum cleaner tank

The first point to define which is a function of the desired autonomy and the size of the surface to be treated is the size of the tank in volume because this will determine the autonomy of course but also the space requirement. Tank sizes range from 20 to 80 liters and can be tilting. This tank can be made of stainless steel or polypropylene or as in the case of Numatic in "Structofoam" which is a very robust material, which allows Numatic to guarantee its tanks for 3 years.

Water and dust vacuum cleaner tank

The choice of the material of the tank generally remains very subjective because it is common to think that a stainless steel tank will be more resistant with a more industrial approach. This is no longer an objective argument today with regard to materials such as Structofoam developed by Numatic which are more resistant. The choice of a stainless steel tank will therefore be based more on the content to be vacuumed.

Frequently asked questions about wet and dry vacuum cleaners

What is the recommended motor for a professional wet and dry vacuum cleaner?

The choice of motorization is directly linked to the use. There are now models with a double motor to reach powers of up to 3000 watts in the Nilfisk Attix range with depressions of 2x3600 l/min.
Some vacuum cleaners are dedicated to firefighters during floods , with the possibility of direct water evacuation.

Can you use a wet and dry vacuum cleaner in dust mode?

Yes, but BE CAREFUL, you will need to equip your vacuum cleaner with a specific dust filter and sometimes a dedicated vacuum cleaner bag. Indeed, most models are dedicated to vacuuming liquids with a filtering system that will not protect your motor as effectively against fine dust if the vacuum cleaner completely changes use by becoming a mainly dust vacuum cleaner. You will therefore need to refer to the manufacturer's recommendations in this change of destination.

How do I maintain my water and dust vacuum cleaner?

The most important thing is to rinse the tank and the filter and float after each use to prevent the tank and especially the filter from getting clogged, especially when drying. In addition, if you do not take the time to do it, your vacuum cleaner will eventually give off bad residual humidity odors. Beyond this olfactory and visual element, it is the lifespan of your vacuum cleaner that will be impacted and the possible taking of a breakdown under warranty. Do not forget that any warranty is linked to a "good father" maintenance of your water and dust vacuum cleaner even if it is a robust professional tool!

My water vacuum cleaner cuts out even though the tank is not full?

A water and dust vacuum cleaner tank, just like an extractor injector , a scrubber dryer , in short any equipment that sucks up liquid, has a float or sensor system to detect the notion of a full tank and thus avoid damaging the motor if the water level were to reach it.
If your engine cuts out, while the tank is not full, there are several things to check:
-> Does the liquid you are sucking up not foam excessively and in this case the foam level is misleading the capetru or the float? If this is the case, you will need to put a product to neutralize the foam in the bottom of your tank.
-> The full tank contactor is wet and needs to be dried so as not to send an erroneous signal. In most cases, rinsing and drying the vacuum cleaner will solve the problem.

I want to use my water vacuum as a discharge pump?

Nilfisk and Numatic offer this type of option, notably with the Attix 751-61 and Attix 751-71 MWF.
These "firefighter" versions can suck up to 300 liters per minute while discharging the liquid to a height. This series of Attix is often used in the event of flooding.
Numatic also offers a WVD1800AP version which has a 500 W submersible drain pump. You will find this range of flood vacuum cleaners for professional use on our Voussert website and above all in stock.
