Marble crystallization

Powder or liquid crystallizer: choose according to your protocol

The crystallization of marble forms a film of micro-crystals that provides shine, resistance to traffic, and protection against soil penetration. Used with a steel wool pad or a 3M Scotch-Brite pad on a low-speed single-disc machine , these professional crystallizing products are suitable for marble, terrazzo, and limestone floors in large areas, hotels, airports, and public buildings.

Crystallization powder, deep treatment with steel wool

The crystallizing powder (Taski Jontec Nobile Plus) is applied to the damp floor using a steel wool pad mounted on a low-speed single-disc machine (150 to 300 rpm). The chemical-thermal reaction between the powder and the limestone surface creates a highly resistant crystallized layer. Recommended for initial crystallization or restoration of damaged surfaces.

Liquid crystallizer for routine maintenance and quick shine restoration

The liquid crystallizer (Taski Jontec Terranova W) is suitable for regular maintenance. It is applied by spraying onto clean floors using a floor scrubber equipped with a fine steel wool pad (0 or 0000 grit). It provides immediate results on already crystallized surfaces, without a long drying time. Compatible with marble, terrazzo, and limestone tiles.

Focus on marble crystallization

Method for crystallizing marble

Marble crystallization is a common technique used to polish and protect marble surfaces, as well as limestone and other types of stone. Here are the main steps to follow to crystallize marble:
-> Thoroughly clean the marble surface by damp sweeping followed by washing and using a mild cleaner and a single-disc scrubber equipped with a clean soft pad to remove any dirt, grease or stains.
-> Rinse the surface well with water and let it dry completely or better yet, vacuum it with a wet and dry vacuum cleaner.
-> Apply a specialized marble crystallizing product to the marble surface using a steel wool pad or a suitable abrasive disc such as those in the 3M professional range . Follow the product instructions for drying and polishing time.
-> Repeat the application of the crystallizing product until the surface reaches the desired shine.
-> Rinse the surface thoroughly with water to remove any residue of the crystallizing product.
-> Allow the surface to dry completely.

Marble crystallization should be carried out by an experienced professional. It is important to take appropriate safety precautions, such as wearing gloves and safety glasses, when using chemicals and abrasives.

Which discs should be used with a crystallizing agent?

Steel wool (0 to 2 grit) is the traditional consumable. Scotch-Brite 3M discs in purple and sienna allow for chemical-free crystallization. See our complete range of crystallization discs.

On what types of soil can crystallization occur?

Marble, terrazzo, granite, and all limestone. The technique does not apply to synthetic tiles, vinyl, or concrete.

Which machine should be used for crystallization?

A low-speed single-disc machine (150 to 300 rpm) is the standard tool. For large areas, a floor scrubber equipped with a disc pad can be used with the liquid crystallizer.

How to use a marble crystallizer?

The product is used undiluted and on a floor stripped of old layers and which may have been previously applied to marble.

Steel wool crystallization method

Spray the crystallizing agent over an area of approximately 2 m2.
Apply the product with a low-speed single-disc machine (150-200 rpm) fitted with a steel wool or stainless steel pad. Repeat this process for extra shine.
Remove disc residue by performing a wet sweep .
To enhance the shine, you will need to polish your floor with a 400 rpm single-disc floor machine equipped with a white disc.

Marble cleaning

Marble is a "living" stone, and therefore cleaning and treatment products for marble must be specifically formulated for this type of surface. They avoid aggressive agents such as highly alkaline products based on chlorine or overly strong acids that could alter or dull the marble's finish.
Regular maintenance of marble is done either with a single-disc scrubber or an automatic scrubber with a neutral detergent or with a flat washing system and a cleaning trolley.
