Stripping disc - be careful when using!
The stripping disc is among the most abrasive, and therefore a preliminary test on the floor must be carried out because surface damage can prove irreversible!
The black disc is more aggressive than the brown disc. For light stripping, it's best to use gentler discs like blue or green.
These discs must be used with caution as they are very effective but can damage fragile surfaces such as linoleum floors or some modern soft flooring.
Use the correct stripping product suited to your type of flooring. A stripper for thermoplastic floors requires more professional and complex application than a stripper for hard floors such as washable tiles or concrete floors.
3M Scotch Brite or standard brand disc
Voussert offers 3M quality discs, which provide excellent results and, more importantly, greater disc durability. However, this does require cleaning the disc after each use. If, on the other hand, you prefer disposable discs, there's no need to choose 3M; the standard range will be perfectly adequate and effective.
Stripping disc dimensions
What determines the choice of size (disc diameter) is of course the size of your platter and the recommendations of the machine manufacturer.
On a single-disc machine with a 40 to 43 cm plate you can choose a diameter of 406 mm if you do not want an overhang and 432 mm if you want to have this overhang allowing you to work on the baseboards.
For a floor scrubber, the dimensions are also generally 432 mm for a 43 cm pad, and 505 mm for a 50 cm pad. Then there are floor scrubbers with two disc holders, in which case the most common dimensions are 280 mm and 330 mm.
3M Hi Pro and Janex stripping pad
The Hi Pro pad disc has a very durable open structure.
Its stripping power is 4 times more effective than a standard stripping disc.
It can be cleaned by hand or machine washing (30°C). Suitable for use with a single-disc scrubber up to 250 rpm and an automatic scrubber dryer.
Durability: approx. 1500m² at 150rpm. 3M Hi Pro disc thickness: 12.5 mm. Aggressiveness: 4g (Schiefer scale).
The Hi Pro stripping pad is ideal for the complete stripping of all types of soiled floors. It allows for very aggressive stripping. It is used for heavy-duty floor stripping. It is also recommended for deep cleaning with the appropriate chemicals.
This type of pad is recommended for restoring the original ground contact. It features highly aggressive nylon fibers. The pad should be used with a standard machine up to a recommended speed of 350 RPM.
Stripping with or without chemicals
Traditionally, floor stripping is done with an alkaline floor stripper or, in some cases, to save time, with a no-rinse stripper.
However, there are now discs available for stripping without chemicals, using only water.
This disc line allows for product savings and limits chemical discharges into the environment.
Chemical-free stripping disc for partial or complete stripping
The Scotch-Brite™ SPP disc is designed for partial or complete stripping. It is made of high-quality synthetic fibers forming a non-woven web. Abrasive particles are evenly distributed throughout the web and bonded with a highly resistant resin. Each disc has a pre-cut hole.
Use of the chemical-free disc
Use with water or a neutral detergent instead of a chemical stripper.
Speed: it removes a layer of emulsion every 1 or 2 passes (under laboratory test conditions).
Can be used for partial or total stripping of emulsions.
