Use the correct stripping disc
The stripping discs are used on
disc carrier plates for
monobrush and
scrubber-dryer .
These trays must be provided with pins allowing the attachment of the disc or with a Velcro-type adhesive plated on the tray. In general, spiked trays are used on monobrushes and scrubber-dryer trays are equipped with a "scratch" system for better adhesion.
The stripping disc is among the most abrasive and therefore a preliminary test on the ground must be carried out because a degradation of the surface can prove to be irreversible!
The black disc being more aggressive than the brown disc. In the case of light stripping, it is better to opt for softer discs such as blue or even green.
These discs must be used with care because they are very effective but can alter fragile surfaces such as linoleum floors or some modern soft floors.
3M brand disc or standard
You can choose the
3M quality on which you will obtain powerful results but above all a greater durability of the disc. On the other hand, this implies maintaining the disc by washing it after each use. If, on the contrary, your approach to the disc is more based on the disposable, there is no need to take 3M and the standard range will be sufficient and effective.
Disc size
What determines the choice of the dimension (of the diameter of the disc) is of course on
the dimension of your platter and the recommendations of the manufacturer of the machine.
On a monobrush with a plate of 40 to 43 cm you can choose a diameter of 406 mm if you do not want an overhang and 432 mm if you wish to have this overhang allowing you to work the baseboards.
For a scrubber, the dimensions are also generally 432 mm for a 43 cm tray, 505 mm for a 50 cm tray. then there are the scrubber-dryers with two disc-holder trays and in this case the most common dimensions are 280 mm, 330 mm.
Pickling with or without chemistry
Traditionally, floors are stripped with an alkaline
floor stripper or in some cases to save time with a no-rinse stripper.
However, there are now
discs for stripping without chemicals only with water.
This line of discs saves product and limits chemical discharges into the environment.
