How to choose your window squeegee?

In order to choose the raclette that is best suited to what you expect, you must first ask yourself a certain number of questions, whether you are a professional or a demanding individual wishing to use professional equipment:
1. Quality level of the squeegee : How long do you plan to work, how big is the surface and above all is it occasional use or will you make repeated and intensive use of it.
2. Handle type : The choice of handle is guided by the criteria of weight, bar compatibility and ergonomics.
3. Swivel head : Unger offers squeegees with a swivel head. The advantage is access to hard-to-reach places and/or work with a telescopic pole. The Unger SwivelLoc swivel head addresses this issue by offering an angle of up to 30°.
4. Width of the bar : The size of the surface to be cleaned will also determine the width of the bar to be used. Of course, this width of bar must be consistent with your "technical level" because the wider the bar, the more dexterity it requires to handle it. Is a quick change of the bar important?
5. Rubber : Soft or flexible squeegee rubber Hard or Soft to be determined depending on the outside temperature.

The ranges of window squeegees

Unger Ergotec Ninja window squeegee: This is the reference window squeegee at Unger which represents the top of the range with a degree of development never reached. The TriLoc mechanism of the Ninja squeegee allows optimal fixing of the bar . The squeegee head is thus pivoting giving it great flexibility of use and can be locked at will in the optimal position desired by the user.
Unger Ergotec window squeegee: This is the professional squeegee that is Unger's sure value and is suitable for a greater number of users who want to have a quality tool. Squeegee composed of a handle with an ergonomic design allowing daily working comfort without worries. The interchangeability of the bar is easy.
Ergotec SwivelLoc Window Squeegee: Do you have a surface that is difficult to access? The Swivelloc is for you. The head can be tilted 30° for lateral or overhead work.
Zero head tilt for large glass surfaces or specific angles.
Window Squeegee with S-Blade: The standard professional quality squeegee with an S-shaped spring to quickly lock and interchange the bar and its rubber.
Window squeegee pro range : The standard window squeegee from Unger for light use but with Unger manufacturing specifications. You want a professional tool but only have occasional use , this product is for you. Quick change of rubber and bar thanks to professional clips.
Visa Versa Unger window squeegee: Squeegee and moistener in one dual-function tool integrating the moistener on one side and the squeegee on the other. This dual-function option saves time, especially when working with a pole. No need to disassemble and reassemble your squeegee and moistener or worse, to have two poles each for one tool... A simple change of side from vice versa and that's it. The Visa Versa squeegee is available in 3 widths: 25 cm, 35 cm and 45 cm.

Window squeegee and ecology

Unger has taken into account the environmental issue and in this context has developed a range of green label squeegees and rubber . These squeegees are FSC certified and C2C certified Material Health Certificate silver.
To obtain the Material Health Certificate, all chemicals used in the value chain are analyzed and assessed in terms of health and environmental risks.
Hazardous chemicals are avoided and replaced with safe substances for sustainable production.
Regarding rubber, Unger green label rubbers are made from FSCTM certified natural rubber, for more sustainable forest management. FSC certified forests and plantations are those that are managed according to stricter ecological and social principles.
FSC certified materials always remain traceable throughout the supply chain.

Window cleaning techniques with a squeegee

Using a professional squeegee handle requires specific techniques to be followed to achieve suitable results. There are two methods for "pulling a window" as it is expressed in the jargon of window cleaners. These two methods are to be chosen according to your ease and dexterity.
French Method:
Position the squeegee at the top right of the window, then lower it slowly while making sure to wipe off the water and dirt with a microfiber cloth. Dry the squeegee regularly with the same microfiber cloth, which must be kept clean. For large surfaces, use several cloths.
American Method:
This method, also called the "S method" , consists of passing the squeegee from top to bottom in sinuous movements. Although more technical, it allows for faster and more efficient cleaning. This is the method very often preferred by professional window cleaners because once the gesture is acquired, the speed of execution is the fastest because there is no "repositioning" of the squeegee on the window. Here too, consider using a microfiber cloth to wipe the outline.

What width of squeegee should I choose?

The most common width is 35 cm. This width represents a good compromise between ease of handling and speed of execution, which is of course linked to the width of the squeegee. The width of 45 cm is also often used but requires greater dexterity and practice, providing greater productivity.
