Mop fringe

The faubert, the practical solution!

The faubert mop, how to choose?

Voussert has been supporting its customers since 1981 with recognized expertise in the world of hygiene. The mop is part of the "traditional history" of cleaning . In fact, the mop is one of the oldest cleaning accessories in terms of use . The traditional mop has stood the test of time and is still widely used today, particularly in areas where the intervention must be quick and can be repeated during the day. Examples include corridors, building lobbies, etc. The mop has undergone technical developments with the appearance of new materials such as microfiber or synthetic textures that make it more hygienic than traditional cotton.

How to compare the faubert fringe?

The composition of the mop has evolved with the appearance of new materials such as non-woven or microfiber. Traditionally, a mop is traditionally made of a predominantly cotton material.
The fringe is separated in two by a strip allowing the fringes to be held together and also to be fixed using a fringe clip .
The fringe is characterized by its weight (thickness and weight of the fibers) and whether it is sewn with an intermediate strip or not.
We then speak of fringe with or without a band , sewn or unsewn fringe .
In the case of a fringe called with bands or sewn, this means that the ends of the fringe fibers are assembled together. Otherwise they are "free".
The "Spanish" mop is also a very common name in the cleaning industry to designate a set consisting of a bucket with a wringer grid, a mop type mop with screw connector or hexagonal Mery type and the associated handle.
Rubbermaid offers technically advanced microfiber mop pads with fibers developed for greater dirt absorption and faster floor drying.
Spontex also offers a synthetic non-woven mop made from polypropylene, polyester and viscose, which provides greater hygiene, fewer odours when wet than cotton and greater absorption.
It is true that these more "modern" fringes have a significantly higher purchase cost than a traditional cotton fringe, but they provide a real gain in terms of hygiene and durability. It may therefore be consistent to test them at least once in order to objectively compare performance.

Frequently asked questions about the faubert fringe

Where are fauberts fringes made?

Unfortunately, most of the fringes, whether mop, microfiber, cotton or for folding supports , are no longer manufactured in France.
On traditional cotton fringes, it is now mainly Pakistan as far as cotton is concerned. Of course, Asia also remains a very present player. Some countries such as the Space or Italy, Turkey...in Europe offer fringes with higher added values on technical materials, still allowing them to compete with countries with low manufacturing costs.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Faubert mop?

The main advantage is its practicality, ease of use and low cost in terms of production cost.
The ability to reach into every nook and cranny of a surface.
Speed of execution.
The disadvantages are mainly linked to the quality of the fringe, which can sometimes leave the floor very waterlogged and therefore take a long time to dry.
Alternatives exist with microfibre or non-woven faubert mops which absorb much more than traditional cotton.
This is why some users are now switching to flat mop systems with specially designed microfibre mops which offer a much faster drying time and greater efficiency in terms of floor cleaning.
