What is a spunbond tablecloth?
Spunbond is a nonwoven material made from continuous synthetic fibers, usually polypropylene. It belongs to the family of continuous filament nonwovens.
The spunbond manufacturing process involves extruding molten polymers through dies to form thin filaments. These filaments are then stretched and cooled to form continuous fibers.
The continuous fibers are then randomly oriented on a collection surface and consolidated by the application of heat, pressure, or chemical binders. This creates a nonwoven structure that is both strong and air-permeable .
Spunbond is widely used in various applications , particularly in the textile, medical, and packaging industries. It is often used as a covering, filtration, or reinforcement material in finished products such as protective clothing, examination sheets , medical face masks (FFP or 3-ply type), reusable bags, and geotextiles, and now also in the tablecloth industry with spunbond tablecloth rolls and placemats.
The main characteristics of spunbond include its lightness, strength, tear resistance , air permeability and recyclability . All these characteristics have therefore made this material a possible alternative to traditional non-woven fabrics, although the downside is its fragility at certain low grammages.
Is Spunbond water-repellent?
This material now allows for wiping throughout the day and has water-repellent properties.
This gives it greater durability and longevity compared to standard non-woven or non-woven fabrics.
Where is the Spunbond used in tablecloths manufactured?
It is mostly manufactured in Asia, but there are still factories in France. Voussert has chosen to offer "made in France" spunbond rolls and sheets with guaranteed chemical composition, even if the price is naturally higher than imported products.
Is Spunbond durable?
Its increased resistance also means that it no longer tears when repositioning the tablecloth or simply when setting up long tables.
Indeed, who hasn't had the unpleasant surprise of seeing their non-woven tablecloth tear while trying to put it back in place?
Non-woven fabric, once wet, also loses all its resistance qualities, which is not the case with spunbond.
What tablecloth formats are available in spunbond?
Spunbond material is now available as tablecloths in rolls of 10, 20 and 50 m, but also as placemats, 30x40, round tablecloths 240 cm, tête-à-tête.
A very wide range of colours, with more than 20 colours available, will allow you to find the table setting that matches your ambiance.
