In France, wearing high-visibility clothing conforming to EN ISO 20471 is mandatory for anyone working on foot on roads or near moving vehicles. Class 2 is required for roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h, and Class 3 for expressways and motorways. In the construction industry, the site safety plan (PPSPS) or the project manager's prevention plan may require a higher class level depending on the level of risk exposure. Note: combining a Class 2 jacket and Class 2 trousers provides Class 3 protection at no extra cost.
The high-visibility vest is particularly suitable for indoor or semi-enclosed environments where weather conditions are not the primary factor: logistics warehouses, loading docks, and industrial workshops. It can be easily worn over any work clothes and stored in seconds. To maintain its fluorescent properties over time, wash it at a maximum of 40°C without fabric softener, and replace it as soon as the fluorescent fabric shows signs of fading or the retroreflective strips start to peel off—two criteria for non-compliance with EN ISO 20471.
The high-visibility parka is recommended for workers exposed to inclement weather or cold for more than four hours a day. It is particularly suitable for roadworks, utility network projects, and for collection crews working early morning or night shifts. For complete Class 3 certified protection, pair it with Upower high-visibility trousers. Regularly check the condition of the seams and retroreflective strips after each wash cycle, and follow the care instructions on your garment's label to maintain the EN ISO 20471 certification throughout the product's lifespan.
