Electric hand dryer: advantages and disadvantages

Historically, the electric hand dryer was somewhat the "poor relation" of hygiene. But the Dyson company reinvented this device by incorporating the concept of pulsed air.
What does the term "pulsed air hand dryer" mean?
Traditionally, drying via a conventional device was carried out using hot air blown at a speed of around 100 km/h.
So it was the heat that "dried" the users' hands after washing.
This solution had several notable drawbacks:
Long drying time => wipe hands on users' clothing or using toilet paper
Poor hygiene => hot air circulation of the atmosphere and particles on the hands. Studies conducted on this type of device showed a 230.4% increase in the number of bacteria on the palms of the hands and 186% on the fingertips.
Ultimately, the only advantage of this device was its economic cost.
Purchase cost often less than 200 or 300 euros.
Very low operating cost compared to a single-use solution, although as seen previously, toilet paper consumption could suddenly increase...

The Dyson-type electric hand dryer relies on air speed rather than solely on air temperature. The concept is to "slide" and "drain" the water from the tops of the hands to the bottom of the device. This is why it either has a reservoir or a drain to a lower point.
This now widely used solution significantly improves hygiene, notably by reducing contamination through the presence of a Heap filter, but offers a much shorter drying time of 7 to 15 seconds.
But it is still less efficient in terms of hygiene than single use, even if economically it is the preferred solution in high-traffic areas where maintaining a single-use system would be technically and economically impossible.
