Soap Dispenser Guide for Business and Community

Summary

Hands, the number 1 vector of contamination in communities

The Covid19 pandemic has demonstrated the lack of disinfection equipment and accessories in restrooms and public places or businesses. Why did we wait before hand and surface washing and disinfection solutions were put in place when hands are the number one vector of contamination?
The massive installation of soap dispensers during this period, with shortages at all manufacturers, has all of us hygienists questioning the level of hygiene regarding hand washing. This period will have been a wake-up call that has been quickly forgotten to this day. Many devices are now empty or abandoned... Let's not talk about the stations and terminals for dispensing gel or hydroalcoholic solution, which are now more of a decorative object to soothe everyone's conscience. Who has used these terminals in recent months?

Save: liquid soap lotion to refill

How to save money? The liquid soap, gel, or bulk lotion dispenser, made of plastic or stainless steel, which requires refilling, is the most common product. You'll find it mostly in white, but also in black, and for kitchens in sensitive areas, in stainless steel. Indeed, hygiene is not guaranteed due to the access to the tray for refilling. In addition, there is a risk of incorrect filling of the product, as well as a risk of stagnation of the product in the tray if it is not regularly maintained. There can then be overconsumption and leakage under the soap dispenser if the soap dispenser pump is not maintained and replaced.
In short, if you are looking for absolute savings, choose a refillable soap or gel dispenser, but if hygiene remains your priority, choose a cartridge soap dispenser. Choosing the right system will allow you to control your budget .

Automatic wall version with sensor: contactless

In recent years, hand hygiene consumable dispensers have been developed, particularly automatic soap dispensers that use an infrared sensor . They are found in sensitive surfaces such as kitchens, patient bathrooms, and hospital showers for shampooing.
These devices are of particular interest . In fact, the negative point of most soap dispensers is the fact that the user comes into contact with the lever or the push button used to dispense the dose of product. Therefore, the cleanliness of this push button during successive user visits represents a major risk in terms of the transmission of germs .
The contactless dispenser is triggered by an infrared cell sensor and the dose of liquid or lotion is delivered without any contact between the user and the device.
Beyond the enhanced hygiene aspect, consumption will also be optimized because it is clear that on a manual device, the user will reflexively press the button several times, but on a cell device they will not have this reflex. There will therefore be a reduction in consumption.

Cartridge soap dispenser: hygiene and economy

In the case of the cartridge soap dispenser, it has the advantage of being very hygienic , no need to refill since you change the cartridge. On the other hand, the price of cartridges is very often higher in price per liter than a bulk liquid soap (5 liter container for example). However, this must be weighed against the fact that a cartridge soap dispenser consumes much less than a bulk soap dispenser. Indeed, the latest generations of soap dispensers dispense foam and therefore consume 5 to 7 times less than with bulk liquid soap. In general, cartridge soap dispenser manufacturers guarantee them for life, like Deb for example.
Voussert has been offering cartridge dispensers from several manufacturers for 45 years, including Deb SC Johnson, Stoko, Essity and Lotus.
Remember that hand washing requires a soap dispenser but also a folded or rolled hand towel dispenser because to date, paper towels remain the safest solution in terms of hygiene, even compared to the latest generations of electric hand dryers.

Wall-mounted dispenser installation

The dispenser is installed on the wall and must be placed close to the water source. If you are installing a pull-out device, you will need to securely fasten it with wall plugs to prevent it from being pulled out . This is why most manual models are push-fit to the wall. In this type of configuration, screw and wall plug mounting is often chosen, but double-sided tape or glue is also an option.
If the model is automatic by cell triggering, the user has no contact with the device, it will only be possible to apply pressure to the device when changing the refill or battery. In this case, a double-sided attachment may be sufficient.
