Ammonia , historically called alkali or "volatile alkali" in French drugstores, is a highly alkaline aqueous solution of ammonia (NH3). This 1-liter bottle of ammonia has been used for decades by professionals in cleaning, restoration, building maintenance, and furniture restoration for its exceptional degreasing and stain-removing power.
What is ammonia (alkali) and what is it used for?
It allows, in particular, to:
- degrease cooker hoods, hobs, ovens, barbecues and kitchen walls;
- clean windows, mirrors and glass surfaces without leaving streaks (strong dilution);
- to remove stains from textiles (ink, blood, grease, red fruit, grass stains);
- to revive tarnished silverware, copper and brass;
- to clean heavily soiled tiled floors and earthenware;
- to remove oxidation from certain oxidized metal parts.
Security and regulatory framework
Corrosive and irritating product: it causes skin burns and serious eye damage (H314), may cause respiratory irritation (H335), and is harmful to aquatic life (H412). Wear nitrile or neoprene gloves, EN 166 safety goggles, and an FFP2 mask if used for extended periods in poorly ventilated areas. Never dispose of down the drain without extensive dilution.
