Dishcloths are today an essential tool for any hygiene solution, whether in CHR, communities, hospitals or food catering in accordance with the HACCP standard .
The use of this type of cloth is mainly in the world of catering and cooking as opposed to sponges where contamination is much greater, but also in the sanitary sector or catering rooms.

Advantages of dishcloths

Non-woven cloths based on polyester and viscose in most cases have the advantage of being bacteriostatic. This means that bacteria cannot grow on the cloth itself.
It therefore makes it possible to limit microbial development unlike certain other historical tools such as sponges or cotton cloths.

Cloths can be washed even at high temperatures and are therefore reused several times, which is not yet the case for sponges.

The cost of use is therefore minimal.
Cloths of this type are also food contact and approved to HACCP standards. They also have better grip, easy rinsing and quick drying. The micro-perforated structure allows for more effective cleaning by limiting the use of detergent.

Cloth and color code for application of HACCP standards

The advantage of cloths is that they offer a range of differentiated colors allowing you to compartmentalize the different areas of your premises. By assigning a mop color to each area, you limit the risk of transmitting bacteria from one place to another. This avoids the phenomenon of cross contamination.
If you use a sponge for sanitary maintenance, you have no guarantee that it will not end up in your kitchen...And this is the main problem with sponges beyond their texture which does not is never intended to be bacteriostatic.
Conversely, if you put a color code in place with yellow for food surfaces in the kitchen, pink for sanitary surfaces , blue for movable surfaces in tertiary areas, you limit cross-contamination.

A color coded system requires at least 3 colors but you can of course add green and white if you want to go even further in your “division” of your maintenance processes.
