Hydroalcoholic gel why?
History of hydroalcoholic gel
The use of hydroalcoholic gel and hydroalcoholic solutions began about fifteen years ago at the initiative of the hospital environment.
Indeed, the fight against nosocomial infections and therefore all manual infections have led to highlighting a problem. Namely, the frequency of hand washing to be implemented to reduce these manual infections became either impossible in terms of frequency or material possibility (presence of water point).
A complementary solution was therefore set up between hand washing, which is disinfection via a hydroalcoholic solution or gel.
This solution is easily adaptable to all situations even in the absence of a water point.
Nevertheless, the negative effect was the perception by the users, that the use of a hydroalcoholic solution could allow to "do without" the washing of the hands . This idea must be fought because hand washing remains the basis of hygiene.
Hydroalcoholic gel or foam
Today we must distinguish between solutions that consist of a gel to distribute on the hands and hydroalcoholic solutions in the form of foam.
The hydroalcoholic gels and foam are mainly composed of alcohol which mainly participate in the disinfection process. Then several compounds allow persistence (time during which the solution has an action).
Regular use can
cause drying of the skin if the solution is too concentrated in alcohol. It is for this reason that some laboratories are Deb have developed hydroalcoholic solutions in the form of foam. The
gains are immediate in terms of consumption but especially in terms of the dose used on the hands of users. So there is a better acceptance.
Deb, now part of the SC Johnson group, was the first to offer solutions in terms of foam with various packaging adaptable in
hydroalcoholic solution dispensers .
Phagogene hydroalcoholic gel suitable for frequent use
Phagogene is a
French manufacturer that offers a complete line of hydroalcoholic gel completely dedicated and developed for hospital staff subject to frequent use of this type of product.
Phago Rub SPS gel is a reference with a formulation of more than 90% of natural origin, it allows a high tolerance and will therefore be appreciated by caregivers.
DLUO of hydroalcoholic gel
A hydroalcoholic solution has, like any other, a Best Before Date . This date is not like in the food industry a consumption date. Indeed, in the context of a hydroalcoholic gel, it is the alcohol concentration which decreases over time which gives this indicative date.
After influenza A, quantities of several thousand pallets were destroyed by manufacturers and distributors on this best before date. We can only regret this mess because many of these products still had very consistent characteristics in terms of disinfection.
