A reel dispenser can have external or internal unwinding. In the case of externally unwinding reels, it's more accurate to refer to it as an unwinder onto which a white or beige reel (for industrial use) is placed.
External coil dispenser
In the case of external roll dispensers that allow paper to be unwound, rolls of 1000 to 1500 sheets are typically used. This type of roll dispenser is installed in industrial settings or workshops for quick and convenient paper access. These dispensers come in an inverted V shape on legs or as wall-mounted systems. These systems are multi-standard, except for Tork models, which in some cases may only accept the Tork standard.
Why install a reel unwinder?
Providing paper wiping rolls in workshops, garages, businesses, industries or communities is often a concern to avoid problems of overconsumption and hygiene.
The wiping roll is often simply placed on a work surface, which carries risks of it falling, getting dirty, and potentially being stolen, etc.
This is why installing a paper reel unwinding system is an economical and practical solution to install and maintain.
Which reel dispenser model is suitable?
First, you need to choose a dispenser that's compatible with the size of the rolls you're using, in terms of both outer diameter and roll width. Most dispensers accept standard paper towel rolls, but it's always best to double-check.
The reel dispenser can be wall-mounted, freestanding, and offer a bin bag support to provide a unit integrating distribution and immediate waste collection.
Central unwinding, economical and hygienic
The central dispensing system is one of the most widespread, used in institutional kitchens, food processing plants, restaurants, self-service establishments, service stations, and more. The main reason for its popularity is economic, given the low operating cost and ease of access for users. However, this ease of access can quickly lead to excessive consumption , and installing a dispenser capable of handling sheet-by-sheet dispensing, such as the Tork Reflex or Lucart Identity, can be a good way to control this potential overconsumption.
Maximum or minimum center-discharge reel dispenser
Two sizes of roll dispenser are available: the maxi, compatible with 450-sheet rolls, and the mini, compatible with 150- to 210-sheet rolls. The most common is the center-pull 450-sheet roll dispenser. Numerous models of dispensers are available in ABS and even stainless steel to meet various design and integration requirements.
Lotus innovated with the Lotus Reflex by developing a center-feed dispenser system that dispensed one sheet at a time. This addresses the drawback of center-feed roll dispensers, where the paper feed is poorly controlled or not controlled at all.
The maxi central-pull dispenser
This is the most widespread standard because it accepts the market's standard wiping roll, which is the 450-sheet roll . However, given the significant number of variations in this roll, both in height and sheet length (and therefore roll outer diameter), you will need to check the distributor's maximum roll size.
At Tork SCA, this standard is coded "M2," allowing users to safely mix and match reels and dispensers. An alternative is to use high-capacity reels in 900 formats , manufactured by compacting the reel as much as possible to fit into this type of dispenser.
The mini central-pull dispenser
More compact, the mini central-pull roll dispenser is suitable for locations with lower consumption, such as small kitchens, lightly trafficked restrooms, local food shops, etc., where space may not be available for a full-size roll dispenser. In these cases, a minimal footprint due to lower usage (traffic) is preferred.
At Tork SCA this standard is coded "M1" .
Tork Reflex M3 and M4 distributor
Tork, after its acquisition of Lotus, ensures the continuity of the Lotus Reflex system and is now available as Tork Reflex in two formats.
The Tork Reflex M3 system is the mini system
The Tork Reflex M4 system is the maximum system
In both cases, this sheet-by-sheet distribution system will save you up to 37%.
